The University of Cincinnati’s Bearcat Card will soon have debit functionality thanks to the new five-year partnership with PNC Bank, according to an independent student newspaper at the university.
Starting June 2010, students and employees can link their Bearcat Card to a PNC account and use it as payment at any location (on or off campus) that accepts debit cards.
Additionally, those who have a PNC account or open one will be able to utilize the bank’s Virtual Wallet program, which aims to help students keep track of their accounts. Parents may also access these accounts to monitor spending and transfer funds if needed.
In addition to bringing a PNC location to the campus’ Tangeman University Center, the bank will also add nine ATMs to the campus.
Incoming freshmen will be given the newly designed PNC-linked Bearcat Card. Returning students can get one beginning September 2010.
