The United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA) has announced that a new scheme has been developed to make the biometric registration of immigrants easier on both the government and the immigrants. Part of this scheme involves the creation of a mobile biometrics team that will be able to enroll immigrants without having to be stationed in an office somewhere.
Facial biometric enrollment is required under a recent UK law that sees immigrants requesting a UK identity card needing to have their identity authenticated first. The new scheme creating the mobile enrollment team came following a study revealing that immigrants were having problems getting to the local Home Office where enrollment would otherwise take place.
