Unisys has chosen ImageWare Systems’ Biometric Engine to be part of the company’s Registry and Positive Identification and HSPD-12 solutions at its Center of Excellence in Reston, VA. That will, according to Unisys, better position it to meet the requirements of future programs, including national ID, e-passports and e-visas, among others.
SAN DIEGO–ImageWare Systems, Inc., a leading developer of identity management solutions, announced that Unisys Corp., a worldwide technology services and solutions company, has selected the IWS Biometric Engine to be a part of the Registry and Positive Identification Solution (RAPIDS) and HSPD-12 ID solutions on display in the Unisys Center of Excellence (COE) in Reston, VA. The Reston COE features security solutions, including eID, access control, ePassport, Registered Traveler, border control, information sharing and RFID tracking solutions, among others.
“Our strategy to work with integrators such as Unisys is producing results. We believe Unisys’ selection of the IWS Biometric Engine for the ID solutions in the Reston COE demonstrates its breadth of use, and the flexibility and scalability of our open-architected technologies,” said Jim Miller, ImageWare’s chairman and CEO. “Our scalable biometric identity management platform will be leveraged by Unisys to support the development of customized solutions that meet specific customer needs and can evolve over time. We are confident the IWS Biometric Engine will meet Unisys’ requirements, providing assurance of interoperability and compliance for timely implementation.”
“The IWS Biometric Engine will be a key multi-biometric and identification platform Unisys leverages for developing, integrating and customizing biometric identity management systems for its government clients,” said Ed Schaffner, director, integrated security programs, Unisys.
As a result, Unisys will be better positioned to meet requirements of future programs, including HSPD-12, national ID, e-Passports and e-Visas, among others, through the IWS Biometric Engine’s support of the following capabilities:
–Biometric enrollment, identification and verification
–Identity proofing and vetting
–Biometric Image Assessment and Confirmation
–Biometric Device and Algorithm Infrastructure
–Standards compliance
–Card management and issuance of biometrically-enabled secure credentials
The IWS Biometric Engine is a biometric identity management platform for multi-biometric searching and matching.
