Visualant Inc., a security and quality control solution provider, has announced that its subsidiary TransTech Systems, a card issuance system and component distributor, will provide products and support for Medic-Vault, a lock-safe unit designed for paramedic use.
Medic-Vault, developed by Secured LLC, is a device for the Emergency Medical Services market to help prevent narcotics theft from ambulances. The product bolts onto an ambulance chassis and connects to the vehicle’s existing 12-volt system. To access the vault, EMS staff uses a combination PIN and proximity card.
For additional security, users can install a live stream video camera onto an ambulance roof. This camera can be used for theft detection, and it can also communicate with emergency room staff for medical assistance.
TransTech worked with Secured throughout the R&D phase of Medic-Vault and provides the access control products for the system. It intends to explore additional opportunities to tie in to its existing product line, particularly in the RF inventory tracking field.
