UK-based Wavestore, a video management software (VMS) company, has integrated FaceFirst Biometric’s biometric facial recognition software into its products, reports SourceSecurity.com.
FaceFirst’s software is used for security and surveillance, particularly at border crossings, airports and other businesses to help identify suspects, known criminals, terrorists, illegal immigrants, shoplifters and even VIPs. The software can detect these people within seconds of them entering the range of the surveillance, allowing users to take action.
The facial recognition system uses multiple cameras–in some installations hundreds–to scan imagines and match them to people in a database. FaceFirst has developed data processing algorithms to help manage the amount of data that flows through the system.
Wavestore’s VMS incorporates open architecture, which made it easy to integrate the facial recognition tool. The companies can now offer surveillance and recording solutions to their customers.
