Zebra and APS Technology Group announced that the Yilport Container Terminal in Gebze, Turkey has integrated the Navis SPARCS N4 terminal operating solution with APS optical character recognition and automation technology.
The integration of Zebra and APS Technology will automate identification of internal yard tractors during the container load and discharge process, so that information can be matched between the truck and container during the handoff process. Once this match occurs, SPARCS N4 directs the Yilport driver where to take the container in real time.
Yilport has already deployed Zebra Autogate software integrated with APS optical character recognition and APS gate kiosks, and APS plans to expand these automation services by installing solutions on four ship-to-shore gantry cranes and eighteen rubber tired gantry cranes.
Located in the center of the Marmara Region of Turkey, Yilport currently is at 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, a measure used for capacity in container transportation capacity, and eventually plans to move 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units by 2015.
