Vangent wins $68 million contract

Vangent, a developer of biometric tools and systems, has won a $68 million, three year contract from the Mexican Social Security agency (IMSS) to develope and operate a biometric system for identity management. The system will be managed by Vangent’s Mexican counterpart, Vangent Mexico.


The contract stipulates that 700 enrollment centers will be created to serve the more than 20 million people served by the IMSS. Further, Vangent will be tasked with the distribution of ID cards containing a digitized signature, photograph, iris scan and fingerprint. The cards themselves will be used to authenticate users at the point of service to help curb fraudulent claims. [end] 

Accurate Biometric announced it has been awarded a contract from the FBI for its Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).

The contract is a significant one for Accurate as it enables them to offer same-day FBI fingerprint submission services for criminal background checks to clients such as housing authorities, Indian reservations and banks.

The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded Entrust Inc. a four-year, $4.5 million contract to continue providing hosted PKI services and digital certificates as the security infrastructure for HSPD-12 initiatives. An incumbent in the re-compete proposal, Entrust has provided managed PKI solutions and services for the GSA’s credentialing program since 2007.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded Accenture Federal Services a 13-month, $71 million contract to add biometric modalities and other enhancements to the US-VISIT program. US-VISIT uses digital fingerprints and photographs. A pilot program included in the contract will test facial and iris voluntary identification enrollment and matching.
