Fargo addresses secure ID issuance at CardTechSecurTech

Alan Fontanella, Fargo Electronics vice president of product marketing for secure materials and peripherals, will address attendees at the 17th annual CardTechSecurTech conference on May 15 at 1:45 p.m. In his presentation, Mr. Fontanella will address the foundations of secure ID issuance. The session will review how the production of fraudulent IDs can be limited by improving the ID issuance process, and by introducing visual, physical and logical security into the ID credential itself. 

Nexus launches iCLASS-enabled Vault

Digital ID provider Nexus has introduced the Vault, a physical access and network logon solution utilizing HID Global’s iCLASS technology that will allow use of just one card to provide credentials for multiple purposes while reducing training costs and help desk calls. The Vault is designed to store encrypted user credentials that can authenticate the card holder. 

MegaMatcher 2.0 receives full MINEX certification

Neurotechnologija, a provider of high-precision biometric identification technologies, announced that the company’s MegaMatcher 2.0 fingerprint recognition algorithm has received full certification in the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test (MINEX). The MINEX test evaluates fingerprint template encoding and matching to determine compliance with the government’s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program for the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors. This certification puts MegaMatcher 2.0 SDK into the U.S. government buyers’ certified list of fingerprint recognition algorithms, which will allow Neurotechnologija as well as its distributors and integrators to compete for biometric procurements related to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 201) and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12).

Biometric reader developer Silex Technology has released two new fingerprint sensors that can be embedded in hardware to limit both access and theft. The intelligent sensors extract and capture the minutiae of a fingerprint for matching and can integrate into any system because all of the biometric-related activities occur within the reader.
