Philipino Commission of Elections finishing bidding process

The Commission of Elections (Comelec) in the Philippines is finishing its bidding process for creating a biometric system to replace the commission’s current vote list, according to an Inquirer article. The agency would like to use fingerprint biometrics.
The wining bidder is expected to provide 2,200 enrollment machines allowing for each municipality to have at least one machine. The winning bidder will be responsible for providing software for cross-checking voter records, setting up a transmission infrastructure and renovating the commission’s IT center so that it can better handle the new biometric systems.
