Spain’s Indra has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to implement contactless smart card ticketing technology on the Metro St. Louis bus and light rail networks.
The new contactless ticketing system, which will cover 37 stations and nearly 70 bus routes, will also include new automatic ticket dispensing, cancellation and validation systems, and Indra’s Account Based System – a pricing solution that determines the best fare for the individual traveler
Indra also plans to set up a control center into which all systems will be integrated, enabling expedited processing of network management information and easier maintenance management, according to the company.
Additionally, the new system will feature a Web portal for each regional operator so that users can buy, add value, and report lost or stolen smart cards, which Indra says will reduce fraud and operation costs.
