Digital Angel Corporation announced that its subsidiary Destron Fearing has received USDA approval for its 840 RFID Swine Premise Tag.
Available in both full- and half-duplex designs, the tag consists of a unique 840 country-coded, fifteen-digit animal ID number as well as a pink tamper-proof RFID button and a pink visual panel stud.
Each tag carries the official U.S. shield, a seven-character alpha-numeric premises identification number, the state postal code of the PIN and a notice that it is unlawful to remove the tag.
U.S. swine producers can now use this technology as an official means to identify breeding stock entering harvest channels while helping to improve trace-back accuracy and support comprehensive disease surveillance programs.
