New Zealand’s Eden Park, host of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, officially launched its contactless payment system, according to computerworld.co.nz.
The Aukland venue has opted for MasterCard’s PayPass system, allowing fans to tap and pay for items of $80 or less.
According to Computerworld, a PayPass transactions shaves approximately 30 seconds off an average PIN and signature exchange, which can save fans precious game time otherwise lost standing in line.
Tracy Morgan, Eden Park general manager of sales and marketing, comments: “One of our challenges was around payment options and PayPass doesn’t just speed up payments, it also lets food and beverage staff not deal with cash so much.”
