Netcom shows off microSD card equipped with NFC

Chinese manufacturer Netcom has developed an NFC chip that integrates with a micro-SD card. This enables legacy smart phones that do not have NFC built into the phone, report Engadget.
The chip plugs into a micro-SD card slot in your phone, and then can be used to sync with applications, or make purchases just as you would with a Google Nexus S.
The technology is not without a few caveats. Since the chip is so small, so is the antenna output. Customers will need to line up their phone right next to the card slot to make transactions. Customers will also need to use a background application to communicate with the NFC chip on the micro-SD card to make it work.
This is not the first of its kind.
