AuthenTec releases mini USB fingerprint reader

AuthenTec released a miniature USB fingerprint reader designed to work with PC and Mac notebooks, ultraportables and USB-equipped tablets.
Called the Eikon mini, the device integrates AuthenTec’s AES2660 smart fingerprint sensor. With a fingerprint swipe the device can manage passwords, automatcially log on to favorite website, launch one or more websites and protect a notebook or table from unauthorized access. On a PC, the device can also lock and unlock files and folders.
Measuring .6 by .75 inches when plugged in, the Eikon mini is designed for portability and can remain plugged into a notebook indefinitely.
The Eikon mini comes with AuthenTec’s TrueSuite fingerprint sensor software will be available for purchase starting on June 5. Customers may buy it from the AuthnTec Web store for a limited time launch promotion price of under $10 or from Amazon.
