Lumidigm announced that the company’s fingerprint technology can be extended to read barcodes and authenticate credentials. The new technology will be demonstrated at the 2012 Biometric Consortium Conference (BCC) and Technology Exposition, September 18-20 at the Tampa, Fla. Convention Center.
The scanners can read bar codes, which can be used to enroll an individual into a physical access control system. A mobile device would enroll the individual, display a bar code that would then be scanned by the fingerprint scanner, and then the individual’s fingerprint enrolled, according to a video demonstration on the Lumidigm Web site.
The scanners can also connect to a mobile device via Bluetooth.
