Bluetooth solutions provider Baracoda has introduced its new TagRunners solution, combining RFID technology with the company’s RoadRunners bar code scanner. The TagRunners solution is intended for markets where bar codes are not an option because of product fragility, safety issues or the need for more information than a bar code can carry.
Among the features offered by the new scanner are a “no data loss” mode, which protects data if the user is out of the Bluetooth connection area or if the scanner simply runs out of battery power. The product has a batch mode that gathers and holds data from tags without needing a Bluetooth connection and then transmits all the information when a connection becomes available. It also is compatible with a wide range of mobile terminals, including PDAs, cell phones and smart phones.
Baracoda specializes in data capture solutions for both mobile and on-site applications in the retail, health care, transportation and logistics industries. Baracoda has been active in the RFID market since 2003, when it introduced the ID-Blue RFID contact scanner.
