British Airways will start gathering biometric information from travelers on domestic British Airways flights from Heathrow. Passengers will have both their fingerprint and face scanned at a security checkpoint prior to taking off. Biometric screening is just one of a range of security measures that will be introduced at Terminal 5, a tour of the as-yet-unfinished facility taken by Times Online revealed. All taxis picking up and dropping off passengers at the airport will also be required to have a radio frequency identification tags on their cars so their movements can be tracked while embedded sensors underneath all the roads will provide additional monitoring of the airport. The new terminal is schedled to open March 27, 2008.
