Charlie Card expanded to MetroWest buses

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority’s (MBTA) new Charlie Card payment system is up and running on MetroWest Regional Transit Authority’s buses, according to The Boston Herald.
MetroWest bus customers using the Charlie Card will now be able to transfer seamlessly to the MBTA’s Green Line service, says MBTA General Manager Richard Davey.
Transit Authorities see this as the first step in expanding the smart card throughout the state’s 10 regional transportation networks.
According to The Boston Herald, Brockton Area Transit is slated to adopt the the card next March. However, commuter rail riders will have to wait at least a year for the automated system.
