Cogent Systems, a developer of biometric devices, has announced that its mobile biometric authentication devices, Fusion Mobile Ident II and Mobile Ident III, have been certified compliant with the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) Initiatives and Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) Image Quality Specifications (IQS).
The testing for certification was completed by officials from the Technology Evaluation Standards Test Unit, part of the Biometric Center of Excellence, Criminal Justice Information Services Division.
Both devices are among Cogent’s handheld mobile multi-modal solutions designed for use in military, law enforcement or civil applications. The Ident III, the newer and more advanced of the two devices receiving certification, utilizes a fingerprint scanner, a digital camera and a bar code reader for authentication and can store up to 300,000 biometric records for fingerprint and facial matching.
