Contactless palm reader from Rimax offers top-level biometric security for private use
Databac Group (http://www.databac.com), specialist provider of complete solutions for identification, today announces the latest palm print reader from Rimax, which offers a professional solution for secure access aimed at small, private installations of up to 200 users. Rimax Staff On Time Palm Scan 1:N is a new outdoor biometric terminal that applies one-to-many verification for access control to housing developments, private garages, golf clubs, industrial estates, national heritage and private concerns where security is imperative.
Targeted at the consumer market and small business sector, Palm Scan 1:N boasts a zero false positive rate, authenticating palm prints within the Staff On Time Biometric Server, which comes supplied as standard. Users simply hold their palm up to the reader and Palm Scan verifies their access rights in approximately one second. No code needs to be entered. It can also be programmed to operate light switches, alarms and other electronic systems.
Databac Group managing director Charles Balcomb said: “Palm Scan 1:N is small, compact, easy-to-use, low-maintenance, cost-effective and, above all, very secure: Palm Scan makes a unique key of the user’s palm print image. This is innovation at its best and, at around £900 (1,299), it offers unparalleled price/performance. To put it bluntly, it’s ridiculously cheap for what you get.”
An inbuilt intercom and webcam within the unit extends usage to non-registered visitors, allowing a security guard, concierge or receptionist to see visitors on a PC and speak to them via the intercom. If approved, they can be ‘buzzed’ in to the premises or even enrolled onto the database.
Databac Group will market and support Palm Scan 1:N worldwide.
