New York-based CYBRA Corporation and its partner, Key West Technologies, have signed an agreement with China’s Waterborne Transportation Institute (WTI) to develop and manufacture RFID-enabled smart shipping containers to improve logistics tracking in China’s maritime shipping industry.
The involved parties will unite to form a joint venture company called Beijing Smart Shipping Technologies (SST). SST’s system will incorporate CYBRA’s EdgeMagic RFID Control Software and Key West Technologies’ Globe Tracker Global Tracking and Monitoring Data Exchange Network to grant shippers the ability to monitor the condition and location of their goods throughout the entire supply chain.
At the signing ceremony in the offices of WTI, Globe Tracker CEO Jim Davis displayed an early prototype SST tracking device developed by Key West and its partners that included ultra-low power Wi-Fi technology from GainSpan Corporation of Los Gatos, California.
“China will very likely continue to lead the world in exports for some time and we hope that through our combined efforts, the Joint Venture will have a leadership role in End-to-End Supply Chain Tracking, Monitoring and Management,” said Davis.
