Toronto’s EnStream LP is launching a pilot of their new The Zoompass Tag, a 43 mm by 33 mm sticker that can be attached to a mobile phone to make contactless purchases.
According to Robin Dua, President of EnStream LP, pilot participants will be able to pay for their morning coffee, gas at the pump, and lunch at a fast-food restaurants using only their mobile phones.
Enstream LP designed the Tag so that financial information is stored on secure servers instead of on the mobile phone, so even if the phone is lost or stolen, the customer’s Zoompass account remains secure.
Additionally, every transaction is logged in the Zoompass application and can be instantly seen on the mobile phone.
The trial is offered to select Zoompass clients and is expected to last 3 months.
Participants can make purchases at most contactless payment ready locations, including Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Petro Canada and Loblaws.
