RFID’s getting much bigger in Europe, as evidenced by the European Commission. The organization just announced it is launching a public consultation on RFID, says an article posted online at ZDNet UK (and on numerous other Web sites). The purpose: to learn what others think about the technology, its uses, and its future potential (in terms of economic potential).
Says the ZDNet piece: The European Commission’s online public consultation is a stopgap measure to “make sure the growing use of RFID tags and related technology boosts European competitiveness and improves quality of life — while at the same time ensuring privacy safeguards remain in place.”
