Former campus officer pleads guilty to identity theft

A modern day Bonnie and Clyde, James Drake and his wife went before the U.S. District Court of Kansas concerning an identity theft scheme targeting college students in central Missouri, reports KansasCity.com.
The interesting part of this tale is that James Drake was no ordinary culprit – he was an officer of the University of Central Missouri Police Department. He and his wife both face jail time for stealing enrollment lists that included students’ names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
At the hearing, Drake and his wife both pleaded guilty to the identity theft conspiracy that resulted in more than 250 victims and a loss of over $30,000.
