GAO’s active RFID temperature monitoring tag
19 March, 2010
category: RFID
GAO unveiled a long range, active UHF RFID tag series featuring an LED for visual recognition and an internal sensor for temperature monitoring.
The tag has an expandable memory of 32 MB for data storage, identification, tracking and tracing and location, all in real time. It is ideally suited for the tracking of temperature sensitive assets and for agriculture use.
The active RFID tag features read rates of up to 100 tags/s and a response time of less than 150 ms. It makes use of an anti-collision, multi-tag handling algorithm for accurate communication between the reader and a large number of tags – up to 2,000 tags can be identified at simultaneously.
The model 137003, when combined with an active RFID reader, transfers data at distances of up to 100 feet from handheld readers or up to 300 feet from fixed interrogators.
