German RFID provider iDTRONIC GmbH has announced the launch of a new “UHF gun” reader terminal. The lightweight, pistol-gripped UHF reader is battery-powered with a docking station for charging and synchronizing, making it convenient for use in office or vehicle-based applications.
The new reader offers a reading range of up to two meters for UHF ISO18000-6 B/C tags and labels. The device communicates with enterprise systems via integrated USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi interfaces. A selection of accessories are also available, including a laser scanner, bar code imager, GPS receiver, and a digital camera with flash.
The rugged design of the reader exceeds military specifications for resistance to dust, vibration, high and low temperatures, and drops, including up to 1.5 meter drops on concrete. The resistance to harsh environments, combined with its integrated 3000mAh + 4400mAh high power battery packs, should make the device appropriate for intensive use in a variety of applications.
