LEGIC Identsystems AG will be showing developments in its contactless smart card technology for secure personal identification at the Cartes & IDentification conference in Paris.
The company will be giving live demonstrations of LEGIC card-in-card solutions for the combination of contactless applications on a virtual transponder on its partners’ technology platforms. In addition LEGIC will be providing information about the security solutions for the protection of application data using end-to-end security. This means that data can be encrypted and protected from the background system right through to the credential.
The LEGIC card-in-card technology makes it possible to add applications to existing cards as a virtual transponder using microprocessor chips, for instance on contactless credit cards or NFC mobile phones. LEGIC will show how an existing dual interface card or UBS token can be extended in just a few minutes to become a multiapplication credential.
For example, a credit card can become a multifunctional club card, a public transport ticket or can grant access to fitness centres and lockers. At the same time, dual interface cards can be prepared in advance for a later LEGIC application. This allows to easily add any application on existing smart cards from third party suppliers at a later stage.
LEGIC will also present the LEGIC advant technology. The security package of LEGIC advant supports a variety of encryption standards (AES 128/256 bit, 3DES, DES) and offers an security for the entire data path, from data storage on the card, the transfer to the terminal and to the background system.
