New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has begun the process of seeking a vendor for its new contactless fare payment system, according to Banktech.com.
The MTA has invited members of the fare collection, technology, telecommunications, system integration and payments industries to attend a presentation of its Concept of Operations (ConOps), a document that the MTA says will “directly lead to the design, procurement and implementation of a new fare payment system.”
The presentation, which the MTA hopes will help finalize a ConOps that “describes a system that is state-of-the-art, cost-effective and technically and commercially feasible,” will be held Tuesday, May 10.
A copy of the ConOps is available for download here.
