The Ocean Medical Center (OMC) in Brick, N.J. has recently partnered with RF Technologies to install its Safe Place Infant and Pediatric Security Solution to help protect babies in the infant unit from abduction.
The system uses RFID technology to track babies wearing transponders throughout the infant ward. In the event of an abduction, the system will sound an alarm and automatically lock all doors. In addition, any attempt to tamper with the system’s wiring or infant transmitters by unauthorized personnel will automatically send an alert to hospital staff.
The Ocean Medical Center, which delivers approximately 1,200 babies annually, installed the Safe Place solution to replace its RF Technologies’ Code Alert system. OMC and its sister hospital Riverview Medical Center, which was first to implement the Safe Place system.
