NXP is seeing demand for some of its contactless smart card chips. “We are pleased to share that we have now shipped more than 25 million SmartMX high-security chips for a variety of applications in U.S. government,” said James Sheire, manager of government programs at NXP during the Smart Card Alliance’s Smart Cards in Government Conference held November 16-19, 2010.
“NXP is also excited to see it’s secure smart card technology adopted in a variety of programs for increased security, reliability and convenience and especially new areas like cybersecurity,” Sheire continued.
Sheire also commented how federal contractors are adopting the credentials not only for access for contracting work, but also to upgrade and improve their own systems.
