Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) has selected Aladdin eToken for employee authentication and compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) security standards. They will control network logon through multi-function eToken smart cards. By the middle of 2008, EWEB expects to provide employees with a combination of Aladdin eToken smart card types – USB-based tokens, as well as credit card-like smart cards that also provide proximity technology for building access.

CHICAGO — Aladdin Knowledge Systems , an information security leader specializing in authentication, software DRM and content security, today announced that the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), Oregon’s largest public utility, selected the Aladdin eToken smart card solution to provide strong authentication for employees who access the organization’s data network. In light of ever-increasing concerns surrounding security for the nation’s power and water providers, EWEB began in May to reinforce its information security arsenal.
