German RFID component maker PANMOBIL has introduced a series of handheld RFID and bar code scanners offering the functionality of USB devices. With this capability, the scanners can be integrated into a system without the need to install drivers or other software.
The SCANNDY and smartSCANNDY series of scanners are designed to simply plug into a system’s USB port, either on a computer, forklift terminal, or other device. Scanned data from the reader can then be directly imported into a software program like Microsoft Excel or Word, creating data files which an enterprise software system can use like any other file found on a hard drive or external storage device.
Both the SCANNDY and smartSCANNDY readers are able to perform up to 30,000 scans at a 4 second pulse rate on one battery charge. The scanners are available in a variety of versions, which can also transmit data via Bluetooth, USB COM, HID, USB Ethernet or Easy-Batch.
The smartSCANNDY readers also feature robust rubber bodies, making them appropriate for use in warehouse and logistics applications with harsh conditions.
