Samsung has earned the Common Criteria EAL7 security assurance for a smart card integrated circuit. The certification is for EAL5+ certified IC – Samsung flash 264KB smart card IC for finance. Its security ID is based on 90nm technology.
Samsung leveraged French-based Trusted Labs to provide the testing services. The project took nine months and involved verifying the secure design through mathematics, as well as developing a testing methodology of the Memory Protection Unit of the IC.
The IC was evaluated and approved by the French laboratory CEA LETI. These test results are currently undergoing validation by ANSSI, the national French IT security agency.
