Samsung Electronics announced plans to mass produce a new NFC chip featuring embedded flash memory.
Slated for production early next year, the chips enables contactless mobile payment at the point-of-sale or in public transit applications, as well as peer-to-peer data exchange.
According to Samsung, the chips consume 20% less power than standard NFC chips and remain active for mobile payment even without battery power.
Additionally, the chip’s embedded flash memory enables device designers to add software or firmware upgrades. Samsung also provides a software protocol stack and technology services for antenna design and tuning.
Samsung will display the new solution at CARTES 2010 from Dec. 7 – 9 at the Samsung booth 3C 035 in Hall 3 at Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center.
