San Francisco-based Sifteo has developed a new interactive game system using NFC technology.
“Sifteo Cubes” are maude up of three compact color screen blocks that wirelessly interact with each other to play a variety of hands on developmental games, including puzzles, arithmetic, word sorting and even classic board games like chess.
According to Gizmodo, the cubes contain NFC sensors and accelerometers that detect the presence of other cubes as well as any movements you make.
The devices plug into a computer via USB, where they link up with a Siftrunner app that manages the games and puzzles on the cubes.
Sifteo is now offering a game starter pack consisting of three cubes, charging dock, AC adapter and USB wireless link through its website for $149.
Additional games can be downloaded using the Siftrunner app for $5 each.
