Study shows U.K. adoption of contactless, mobile payments is consumer driven

A British survey commissioned by payment solutions provider Ingenico found that consumers would opt for convenience over security when choosing a new payment method. The research found that contactless cards and mobile handset technology are popular with shoppers already and could prove a viable alternative for cash.
While the numbers of people actually using the three technologies they were asked about – prepaid cards, contactless debit or credit and mobile handset payments – are relatively low, nearly half of the 1,000 surveyed would consider using or would definitely use the technology.
