In an effort to promote information and communication technology (ICT) in developing countries, The World Bank and Gemalto partner and sign the Memorandum of Understanding for social and economic advancement.
As part of The World Bank’s eTransform campaign, it has paired with Gemalto to expand secure electronic identity and mobile financial services. The World Bank works to help developing countries reduce poverty, increase economic growth, and improve their quality of life.
Gemalto is a worldwide supplier of secure personal devices, such as subscriber identification modules (SIM) in mobile phones, smart banking cards, electronic passports, and USB tokens for online identity protection.
Gemalto’s knowledge of the government sector will assist eTransform in working with developing countries using ITC government projects. With Gemalto the initiative is able to connect countries with government, private sector and academia experts from around the world.
