U.S. Army awards biometrics contract

The U.S. Army Contracting Command has awarded a contract to Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) for biometric applications and systems, reports Defense Systems.
The contract comes from the Army Product Manager for Joint Personnel Identification (PM JPI) and is part of the U.S. Army’s Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions Information Technology Enterprise Solutions – 2 Services program. It falls under the PM JPI’s work around quick reaction capabilities for tactical biometric collection.
Under the terms of the contract, SAIC will provide software engineering maintenance and management services. The initial contract runs for eight months, with a one-year option. The value of the contract is worth up to $73 million.
