Vangent wins $68 million contract

Vangent, a developer of biometric tools and systems, has won a $68 million, three year contract from the Mexican Social Security agency (IMSS) to develope and operate a biometric system for identity management. The system will be managed by Vangent’s Mexican counterpart, Vangent Mexico.
The contract stipulates that 700 enrollment centers will be created to serve the more than 20 million people served by the IMSS. Further, Vangent will be tasked with the distribution of ID cards containing a digitized signature, photograph, iris scan and fingerprint. The cards themselves will be used to authenticate users at the point of service to help curb fraudulent claims.
