Waspit has announced the launch of its open-loop BuzzPay contactless mobile payments system in the UK with the help of pub chain Yates’s.
BuzzPay, which works with NFC capable handsets as well as with contactless stickers that can be affixed to non-NFC phones, can be used to conduct purchases anywhere MasterCard PayPass is accepted.
According to Waspit, BuzzPay’s open-loop approach to its terminal network means that UK Waspit users can use their BuzzPay account at over 23,000 locations accepting contactless PayPass payments, including McDonald’s, Ikea, and EAT.
In order to spread awareness of the new service, Waspit is partnering with Yates’s to launch a social media and viral ad campaign.
Danielle Dalkie, head of Marketing and PR at Waspit says, “The choice to work with Yates’s was an easy one, given we share the same target market.”
