In light of recent high-profile attacks on secure data stored on servers, enterprises and organizations are trying to find ways to add extra layers of protection to their data. One way companies add security is through implementation of a Hardware Security Module (HSM), a secure cryptoprocessor for digital key management.
In an effort to make HSM technology more cost-effective, security provider Yubico has developed a cheaper version of server security. In what some may call “HSM Light,” this memory stick-sized USB appliance moves sensitive data and cryptographic operations from a server to the YubiHSM.
Yubico has successfully implemented HSM Light on its own authentication servers, and has completed successful beta tests around the world.
YubiHSM is available for $500 per unit.
