Zebra’s Eltron Card Printers Selected to Produce Mississippi Driver’s Licenses

CAMARILLO, Calif., May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – Zebra Technologies
Corporation (Nasdaq: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in bar code labeling solutions
and card printers, today announced that Viisage Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: VISG)
will enable the State of Mississippi to issue tamper-resistant, secure
driver’s licenses and authorized state IDs at the point of issuance by
installing Zebra’s Eltron brand card printers in 90 driver’s license stations
throughout the state during 2002.
The license program specifies the new Eltron P520 printer and related
supplies for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety offices. Viisage
Technology, a leader in the emerging field of biometrics and in providing
secure digital identification systems and solutions, is the systems integrator
for the project.
To issue tamper-resistant, secure and authenticated credentials at offices
throughout the state, Mississippi required a printer with dual-sided printing
capability for digital photos, signatures, holograms, and bar codes, plus the
ability to encode magnetic stripes and apply a protective overlaminate. The
P520 meets all of these requirements. The tamper-resistant cards printed with
P520 printers last five years or more and can withstand a variety of stresses
including abrasion, UV exposure, temperature extremes, water, and chemicals,
bending and folding.
