The U.S. Army wants companies to submit information for research into a biometric authentication system. The government has posted a” notice asking well-experienced companies for information on developing a product.

Heartbleed was a bug in OpenSSL software used on web servers worldwide. OpenSSL encrypts data sent from the server to web visitors. It includes a feature called a heartbeat, which sends some data back to the visitor’s browser to let it know the site is ready and waiting for request and the heartbeat sends the same amount of data that the browser received, like an echo. But the Heartbleed bug added a vulnerability that could enable passwords and other data could have been openly accessed and the hackers likely would have gone undetected.
