West Midlands begins smart card transit project

West Midlands County, England is launching a £14m smart card system for its public transit network, according to BBC News.
Modeled after London’s Oyster Card and funded by Centro regional transport authority, the system will first be installed on 2,500 buses in the region before making its way to the Midland Metro.
